What’s your color?

How was your weekend? Mine was fantastic. The weather was beautiful here, in the lower 80s. I spend Friday and Saturday morning at the beach until I got so sunburned that I had to stay home until Sunday afternoon when we had to go to an Easter Party. I wasn’t complaining since I got to watch Harry Potter movies and eat a whole  half box of chocolate cookie.

I found this color numerology chart a few months ago at House Beautiful. I am a sucker for any kind of quiz: what’s your color, what’s your style, what’s your personality, you name it. Mostly I like them to see if they are accurate. Let’s see if this one is.

Here's how it works: Take each letter in your name and find its corresponding number in the guide above. Add all the numbers, then reduce the total to a single digit.

EXAMPLE: Mimi Read 4+9+4+9+9+5+1+4 = 45. 4+5 = 9 = Gold.

Interior designer Ellen Kennon, a color expert with a spiritual bent, analyzes each color personality:

1. Red: The most dominant personality. A visionary and risk-taker: energetic, passionate, tenacious, flamboyant, and courageous.

2. Orange: Balanced both mentally and physically. Happy, loyal, takes each day as it comes.

3. Yellow: Cheerful, charming, magnetic, intelligent, confident, and creative. Somewhat psychic, and enigmatic. A good leader and negotiator.

4. Green: The perfect balance between the physical and mental. Grounded, logical, not easily influenced, rarely judgmental. An intensely loyal friend — and has lots of them.

5. Blue: Optimistic, empathetic, flexible, idealistic, tranquil, patient, devoted. A natural mother.

6. Indigo: A brilliant old soul who is intuitive, sensitive, impulsive, curious, and ambitious, with a great lust for life.

I am a BLUE, which is my favorite color, but I did find a little bit of myself in the other colors.

Easter Inspired Party

As promised last week, here are few party inspirations for Easter that caught my eye. I wish my daughter was old enough to have friends over  so I can throw a party. I guess I will have to save all this inspiration for later years.

The first one is the Easter Bunny Hop Party created by The Saavy Moms Guide. Isn’t it cute, the little bunny tales on the kids?

 

This is an Easter brunch party by Tomkat Studio. Kim is a very talented designer who always comes up with fun ideas. I have been following her blog for over a year and I always feel inspired. I love the cupcake and cake stands used on this photoshoot.

 

And last but not least a very cute orange inspired Easter party by Pizzazzerie. Isn’t the little puppy (it looks like a puppy to me) on top of the table cute. I wish they had a better photo of him.

Well this is it for me for this week.  My husband and I are taking my daughter to an Easter Party this Sunday which I am very excited about. Hope you have a great weekend. Any plans?

Seattle Public Library

Did you know that it is national library week? I love reading books and although I love the book stores I enjoy going to the library, leaving with over 10 books having not spend a penny.

You may ask yourself what building is this? Well this is the Seattle Public library that was built in 2004. This 11 story building made out of steel and glass was designed by Rem Koolhaas and Joshua Prince- Ramus.  The library had over 2 million visitors in the first year, I am yet to visit and I lived in Seattle until 2006 and visit about once every two months. Hopefully I will make it next week when I go home for Easter.

Described by Robert Such the library is “ steel, glass, and aluminum diamond shaped grid, which, has an expanded aluminum mesh sandwiched between the glass panels. The mesh reduces heat and glare in areas catching more sunlight.”

The glass and the concrete column look fantastic together. The space is open and grand.

“The bright yellow escalators are useful as wayfinding markers in the voluminous interior. Less obvious are the similarly colored elevator interiors.”

“The highly saturated red curved corridors connecting the meeting rooms on level four are equally bright. Visually overpowering for some, the intensity of the red enhances the crisp coolness of the colors in the Living Room, viewed from behind a mesh wall on this level.”

Tradhome Magazine

I forgot to mention to you, my readers, that Traditional Home Magazine as well as the creators of Lonny Magazine have collaborated and created the new online magazine, Tradhome. It launched yesterday.

I have never been a big fan of traditional interiors but I found myself draw to few of the designs featured in the magazine. I loved the neutrals as well as the bold colors used by the designers. It felt very fresh and inspiring.

One of the articles I like is the 24 hrs- A day in the life of two local interior designers.

The Premiere issue showcases 20 designers that to be quite honest I haven’t heard of:

I love the night stand by the bed, the sunburst mirrors, and the arch in the built in bookcase by Jeff Andrews.

I think that Bonesteel Trout Hall Interiors did a fantastic job on the interiors of this home. The architecture of the house is amazing. I love the beams in the ceiling and the arch to the door going outside.

House Tour: Tobi Fairley

I have been admiring this designer for a while now so when I picked  up the May issue of Traditional Home I was ecstatic to see her home being featured. Tobi calls it the “New Traditional Style! I love how she is not afraid of color and patterns. Her style is simple and elegant.

Few things I love about her home are the entry and her daughter’s room. In the magazine you can see the whole entry and more of this beautiful bold pattern wall covering. Her daughter’s room is designed for her to be able to grow in it and adults can feel comfortable in the room as well as the little ones.
