Valentine’s Day Parties

Would you like to know a secret? I am not a very big fan of Valentine’s Day. It is not bitterness. I just always felt like it is a made up holiday for retailers to make more money. (Keep in mind, I didn’t have this holiday growing up. It was something new to me when I came here during high school). I feel that as a woman and a mother we should be able to get flowers on any random day, not just on Valentine’s day. One year my husband, then boyfriend, sent me flowers on the 15th, the 16th, and 17th of February since he knew how much I didn’t like Valentine’s Day. Now he buys me flowers at random times just to say “I love you!”

 

Now that I am a mom I feel that as a good mom I should introduce my daughter to all the popular holidays that are out there and I am starting to like Valentine’s Day just a little bit. Enough that I have been working on Valentine’s Day crafts and printing out free printables all weekend.

 

So long story short I find myself pinning things that are all about Valentine’s Day. I even find myself wanting to throw a Valentine’s day party. Maybe next year but in the mean time here are few parties I found online that caught my eye.

Terrariums

I am not sure if I like them or hate them. I am more of a flower kind of girl. I do have to say they are very cute, can be very personal, and easy to maintain. A terrarium is a container which is designed to hold small plants and animals in controlled conditions. The closed nature of a terrarium creates an environment which is easy to control, allowing people to simulate everything from the desert to the rainforest. These little guys can make a great present or a very easy decor and caught my eye while I was flipping through the new West Elm catalog.

Wednesday Home Tour: Living on top Smith Tower

If you live in Seattle or have visited Seattle then you might have seen the pyramid top building also know as Smith tower in Pioneer Square. New York Times ran an article about the family who lives there and how most if not all materials to renovate the apartment were for free. The blue glass chandelier was given to the family by Dale Chihuly himself. The apartment provides a magnificent view of Seattle and the Puget Sound.

 

   

 

I have to say my favorite part is the chandelier, the windows and the view of course. What about you?
