Fitness Videos

Bikini season is right around the corner. No, I am not ready for it by any means! Can I tell you a little secret? I have been paying for a gym membership for the past year and I have gone once or twice. Shameful! I just find lots of excuses why not to go - my daughter is not used to strangers, I have no idea what to do there, I don’t have anyone to go with, etc. One thing that I try to get done at home though, is fitness videos. So without further ado I want to show you some of my favorites and some new ones that I am about to try:

Jillian Michaels - 30 Day Shred

30 Day Shred - An easy concept. A 20minute exercise for 10 days at level 1, then move up to level 2 and then level 3. It kicks your butt for sure. I tried this a couple of time but unfortunately never finish the whole thing. You are suppose to do this everyday for 30days.

Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30

Ripped in 30 - this is her follow up for 30 Day shred. It is currently on my to buy list. Most of the reviews on Amazon gave it a thumbs up. I just need to dedicate 30 days to the plan. How hard can it be? ;)

Note: It seems that all of Jillian’s videos are hits with those wanting to squeeze a good fast workout at home.

Abs for Dummies - This is a long somewhat boring video and the music is not the best, but after working your abs for an hour you will feel the pain, in your abs that is. She has a 10 min version in there as well. I used to do it 3 times a week. That was before I had a baby of course, three  years ago!

TurboFire: 90-Day Intense Cardio Conditioning & Interval Training Workout DVD Program

Turbo Jam and Turbo Fire - Chalene Johnson is a fire cracker. She is always so cheery and ready to go. The music is a little cheesy but always upbeat. I first tried Turbo Jam about three years ago and I love it. It kicked my butt.  Chalene is a local to Orange County and actually teaches Turbo Kick (same as Turbo Jam) at a local 24 Hours Fitness. Maybe one of these days I can take the class from her.

ChaLean - this is something I would love to try. I met a gal who actually got in shape with this video. The only problem I see with this video is making sure that I have the proper form when I do it. I am the worst person when it comes to proper from, I am a big sloucher and try to rush through things like that.

I know that there are a lot of great videos out there just like PX90/PX Burn, The Firm, Dancing with the Stars, Bob from the biggest looser even Jane Austin but in the end who wants to have over 100 workout videos at home. Here is also a link to Fitness Magazine’s 2012 Top list. Do you have a favorite one?

Also to keep me inspired I keep a fitness board on Pinterest. Now I just have to start exercising.

Wednesday Home Inspiration

Do you recognize the chairs? That’s right I talked about the Barcelona chairs yesterday and how much I loved them. While browsing through the Internet I landed on the first photo and I loved the eclectic look of the room. Then I find out the house belongs to a newlyweds who grew up in traditional homes but wanted to make their space their own. The whole house has a very eclectic look, a mixture of modern and traditional.

The Barcelona Chair

Long time ago during one of my design classes we learned about the Barcelona Chair. The chair was designed by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and his partner Lilly Reich in 1929. The chair has a timeless design that would fit any contemporary, transitional, casual interior. The chair has its signature’s white or black leather but can be bought in array of different color leathers. I love this chair, sat in it and would love to have it.

The real thing will set you back at least $7000 but you can find a knock off for less than $1000 which is still not in my budget.  What do you think of the Barcelona chair?

A little bit of yellow and gray

Hello, I can’t believe its Monday! I have had very busy four days. I flew in Seattle on Thursdays and from there has been appointment after appointment, meeting after meeting, getting ready for our Easter, then celebrating Easter and I can’t forget my best friend’s bridal shower.

I love Seattle when it’s sunny and warm and that’s what I got all weekend until this morning when I woke up to rain. Here and there would be a peek of sunshine rays. My week is starting off somewhat not on the right foot so this is to cheer me and maybe you up.

Paper Bunting tutorial

red velvet cake

Once again this was an easy and fast craft that I was able to do while watching “Sarah’s Key”. If you haven’t seen the movie it is pretty true to the book and it’s mostly in subtitles. I love cake bunting. It makes a simple cake stand up and fun. It can be little flags or a saying. It is simply fun!

Materials:

* paper of your choice

* triangle

* scissors or an exacto knife

* string

* wooden skewers

How to:

First you need to decide on the size of the little flags.  Once you have that figured out you can move to step number 2. I used construction paper that I folded and then using the angle of one of my triangles I drew the size of the flags. I cut the shapes with my exacto knife and was ready to move on.

Once the shapes are cut up I taped them down with the string between the folded shape. I alternated colors for my bunting. You can use the same color if you wish.

Place the skewers in the cake to your desired height and wrap the string around them. Done!
