Books to have

Can I tell you that I love books! Books and magazines! Even in this technology stage I love to be able to hold a book or a magazine in my hands. If I could I would buy/magazine a book or two or three every chance that I got. When it comes to reading books for pleasure I would usually check them out from the library but when it comes to reference/coffee books I usually would buy them when they are on sale. Well, there are few books that I have been eyeing and with my birthday in a month I am thinking of a great present for me!

Sweet Designs: Bake It, Craft It, Style It

She is the master of dessert table. I love her blog and cannot wait to have this book in my hands!

celebraTORI: Unleashing Your Inner Party Planner to Entertain Friends and Family

Believe it or not I was never a huge fan of Tori. Last year while flipping through the channels I landed on her show. I watched and realized that she is a normal human being and a very involved mom. I watched the episode where they were showing the shooting of the book. The parties look like fun. Plus I am very inspired by Jenny from Jenny Cookies who is a very talented gal from Snohomish, WA. She is the one who made the cakes, cupcakes, sweets for the party shoots.

Desserts in Jars: 50 Sweet Treats that Shine

Who doesn’t love dessert in a jar?

Joy the Baker Cookbook: 100 Simple and Comforting Recipes

Joy the Baker – a great blogger with great recipes. I love the cake that she is holding. I saw an insert of her story and loved the way she talks about cooking and herself.

Sugar Baby: Confections, Candies, Cakes & Other Delicious Recipes for Cooking with Sugar

I want to buy this book only because I love the cover. From what I understand it’s all about working with sugar, nothing else. Yet, I am scared of working with sugar other than eating it raw. I love eating sugar cubes. Does that make me weird?

The Perfectly Imperfect Home: How to Decorate and Live Well

I love the title of this book and after reading the reviews it might be a good reference and to browse through. It is about making it your own, with your own style maybe with things you might have, things for the flea market or things that are just brand new.

The Shabby Chic Home

Rachel Ahswell has a few books out that are all about Shabby Chic. I might get one of them .

Black and White (and a Bit in Between): Timeless Interiors, Dramatic Accents, and Stylish Collections

Mary McDonald: Interiors: The Allure of Style

Black and White (and a bit in between) and Mary McDonald look like two book I want to browse through. I really love the drama of the black and white interiors.

Design*Sponge at Home

Design Sponge at Home - I know this book has been out for a while and most of you probably have it, but I don’t. I have flipped through the book a million time at the store yet haven’t made the decision to buy it.

Are you crushing on any good books lately? I am currently reading a Sophie Kinsella book “I’ve got your number”

What are you reading?

Wow, I did it again! I took an unintentional brake from blogging. Actually I took a brake from the technology world. While I was in Seattle for the holidays (Easter and my birthday that is coming up) I was busy visiting with family so I didn’t even think about Facebook, or blogs, or blogging. I hung out! I might feel guilty now but it felt pretty darn good then.

I saw that over the weekend I gained a few new followers, Thank you and welcome!

While I was in Seattle I realized that I have to be more organized with my life and my business, as well as setting boundaries for certain things.  So what do I do, I chose a few books to read to help me with my task.

The Love Goddess' Cooking School

The Love Goddess’ Cooking School by Melissa Senate. This is a  very cute novel about a girl who is always looking for Mr. Right. When her Italian grandmother dies, she concentrates on keeping her grandma’s legacy alive. The story grabs you in and if you are like me, you will be spending hours of reading rather than going to sleep.

The Happiness Project: Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun

Then I have “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin. I am just now getting into the book, but from what I have read so far it is about finding what makes you happy and doing it. No matter how happy we think we are there is always something else that will possibly make us happier.

A Place of Yes: 10 Rules for Getting Everything You Want Out of Life

“A Place of Yes” by Bethenny Frankel is next on my list. I love her humor and the way she looks at life. With starting my own business I think this would be able to give me the push that I need.

Time Management from the Inside Out, Second Edition: The Foolproof System for Taking Control of Your Schedule -- and Your LifeOrganizing from the Inside Out, Second Edition: The Foolproof System For Organizing Your Home, Your Office and Your Life

These two books from Julie Morgenstern, the queen of organization, should be perfect for me. Time management is essential for me as a mom and a business owner.

Do you have any books on your to-read list? I am always on the look out for something new, please feel free to share.
