I little bit of Greece…

Now that we had a quick trip to Greece, let’s get back to design. The Greek key has been seen in interiors for a long time and I do not think it’s a trend that would fade away. When I look at the Greek key in interiors and jewelry I see a classic. A timeless piece.

What do you think? Timeless? I like how the design can be incorporated in both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Let’s visit ….

Greece today. I love traveling but unfortunately I cannot afford it most of the time. Why Greece you ask? Well this weekend my family and I went to the local Annual Greek Festival. I love going there both for the music and the food.

When I was in college it seemed that in my art classes, my architectural classes, my design classes we always started off with the influence of the Greek culture had on the world: the philosophers such as Socrates, the classic literature such as Iliad and the Odyssey, the theater. And if you seen “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” you will know that according to Gus every word  comes from a Greek word.

Gus Portokalos: You know, the root of the word Miller is a Greek word. Miller come from the Greek word "milo," which is mean "apple," so there you go. As many of you know, our name, Portokalos, is come from the Greek word "portokali," which mean "orange." So, okay? Here tonight, we have, ah, apple and orange. We all different, but in the end, we all fruit.

I had to put this in here. It is too funny.

But as much as I love history and architecture I would love to be here enjoying the beach relaxing. I am in love with the islands. From what I can see they are beautiful.

Wouldn’t it be nice to eat a meal right next to the water?

How about staying in this hotel for a vacation?

My cousin and his wife went to Santorini three years ago. He said that it was beautiful. I laughed when they showed me a photo of themselves riding the donkey just like this guy in the photo below.

Also Greek food is delicious.

Mmm,  fried cheese. I had my fair share of them growing up. I hope I am not making you hungry here!

And if you are in the mood here is classic Greek song. The video has great photos of Greece as well.

Hope you had a great time visiting with me.

Independence Day Party Inspiration

Ever since my little girl was born I have slowly learned to love every holiday there is, at least the ones that require decorating and baking. Everyone knows that Independence day is celebrated with family and friends, barbeques, swimming and fireworks!

This year I am very excited about Fourth of July! We might be hosting a barbeque for our friends which means decorating and cooking. My husband is a pro on the grill. You can ask anyone and they will tell you that is true!
