A fresh start

At some point everyone needs a fresh start, right? Well, this is how I feel with this blog. Going back to old posts I see the numerous hours of posting, the joy of hitting publish on those posts, but I also notice the numerous, actually about 3/4 of the posts, having photos that do not show anymore.

I can understand how frustrating would be for both the visitor and myself to have the photos not show up on the post. I have been going back and forth trying to figure out what I should do: just erase those posts and start clean or should I spend lots and lots of hours, that I do not currently have, fixing up those posts. Ultimately I would love to get a new blog design, freshen things up. I am trying to figure out a way to get back into the groove of things so until then please excuse the mess, and hopefully all this will be resolved soon.

I am still here so if you need to get a hold of me please feel free to e-mail me at meganvperry@gmail.com

It’s been awhile…

Okay, it’s been what…two months since my last post? Well, I had my little girl…baby Sawyer…back on April 23. We are so happy to have this little addition to our family. Being on bed rest for the last two months of my pregnancy was so worth it for this little girl. Yes, she was born with so much hair, which startled me a little bit…Madison was born with barely any hair.

It is amazing how time flies even faster with two kids. I am not sure how others do it (especially other bloggers who are back to blogging the first week) but I barely get anything done. Oh, wait I don’t get anything done! There are days where I don’t even get the chance to take a shower. This is the first time in I don’t know how long that I have been able to get on my computer (love my Iphone, where I can get a lot of things done on there). With summer right around the corner and Sawyer getting a little older, I really hope that things will settle down and without having to rush to get Madison to school in the mornings things will be a little easier.

Thank you everyone (if there is anyone left reading my blog other than my mom) for continuing to read my little blog. I really appreciate it!

Just a little update!

I am not sure if there is anyone else left other than my family reading my blog but I figured I need to do this. A little too personal post about what has been going on for the past five months.

My first pregnancy was a breeze. I didn’t have any complications. I was able to sit back and relax. I didn’t have anything to worry about. Well, this pregnancy has been just a tad bit different.  Once I hit the 10 weeks mark I started having horrible morning sickness that required Zofran to help me get through the day. Then all of a sudden I found myself sick every few weeks from Halloween until end of February. Fun, right!

Being sick on top of trying to run after a very active toddler who by the way started preschool in February (what an experience that was, much better now) left me with no energy to get anything done.

Of course, the biggest thing during this pregnancy was always hearing “Everything is Okay, but….” Now, if everything is okay, why is there “a but” in the end? At 31 weeks I was told that the fluids around the baby are in the normal low and I will have to be monitored twice a week. Well two weeks into it the fluids got lower and lower. I had to be hospitalized because at one point I was told there were no fluids (I guess if there is a water pocket with the cord in it, the tech cannot measure it).  Thankfully I was released after 24 hours in the hospital but was told to be on strict bedrest. It has been four weeks since then.

The baby is doing fine, me on the other hand is going stir crazy. Since I am told to lie in bed on my sides I can’t really sit and use my computer; my back is really starting to hurt all the time, and there is not a whole lot going on TV during the day.  Although I am very thankful that the baby is doing fine and that my awesome mom has flown in to help me with my daughter, I am starting to get very frustrated.  Frustration that I have to rely on others to get ready for the baby, to go out and buy a welcome home outfit and other baby necessity; of course the tasks of regular chores and food shopping (I miss going to the stores). Frustration that I have not even half way done projects all around the house that will have to be finished once the baby comes. Frustration to have to rely on others and at the same time very grateful to have such a supportive and helpful family.

The baby’s due date is two weeks away but I am taking things one day at a time. If at any time from now on there is no measurable fluid around the baby I will be induced. I really hate the uncertainty. I am a natural planner. Believe it or not I had blog posts planned for the past five months but somehow with everything going on the blog has been very, very neglected.

My upcoming goals are to deliver a healthy baby, spend some quality time with my first born once the baby comes (although she has been very understanding, I can tell that she is getting frustrated that mommy can’t do anything with her), go on a date with my husband (it’s been over a year I think) and then to spend some time on the blog. I cannot promise anything but I would love to get back into blogging once things settle down and we get accustom to the changes in our lives.

Thank you for your understanding.  If you would like to follow what’s going on in my life, you can find me on Instagram. (see widget to the right side)

Sunday News

I fell like I can finally share the news why I haven’t been present on the blog for a very long time.

The past month and a half has been brutal for me. The constant nausea and sickness while dealing with a 100 degree weather and trying to entertain my three year old.  My husband and I along with our daughter are thrilled to be expecting this bundle of joy. What’s even more special, it’s that the baby is due three days before my birthday!

Summer Nights

I love summer nights! They are usually lazy, family spending nights! True to that and keeping up with our summer to-do list we decided that after a long hot day to cool off by the pool and make smores (#22). This was Madison’s first time making and tasting smores and she loved it. She loved it so much that we made smores for the past two nights.

This photos is of my daughter occupying herself while her daddy was barbequing some chicken.

Our Summer List Update

Good morning! Hope everyone had a great weekend and a good start to their week! We had a fantastic busy weekend. I got to see a movie with a friend, get some things done for my daughter’s upcoming party and the best of all hang out with my husband and daughter.

You might remember our summer list that I created last month. Well this weekend we were able to get a few things crossed off our list.

#15.  Watch the fireworks – So far this year we have enjoyed two firework shows: 4th of July and Disney. We love the fireworks show at Disney: it is so entertaining since they have the fireworks matched to different characters. You get to see Tinker Bell and Dumbo fly as well. I do admit I am not the best at taking photos of the fireworks.

#46. Go to the local fair – The local fair is a big thing around here unfortunately not in our daughter’s eyes. She liked the petting zoo but that’s about it. Less than hour into it she decided that it was time to go to Disney. As the good parents we are we obliged and went to Disney. Who doesn’t love Disney anyways?

# 50. Ride the carousel – Since Madison rides the carousel once a week we decided to change this one to ride anything that she hasn’t been on before...So we took our daughter on her first rollercoaster and her first Farris wheel ride. She had a blast on both.

Random Nonsense

I know, I know. I have been very inconsistent for a while. Life has taken over me. Today I am writing this post with the same nervous feeling as I did for my first blog post. Not sure if there is anyone out there who would care about my nonsense. Well, hopefully someone does!

It seems that in the past few months it has been one step forward, few steps back. Even though summer is unofficially here in Southern California I feel like this is my new beginning. Don’t concentrate on the bad but the good, not the past but the future.

Anyways…you might remember me mentioning that I went to Seattle for my friend’s wedding. Can I just say I had a blast…The wedding and the bride were beautiful…I got to see old friends…I was able to let go and just have fun. My daughter was the bubble girl and did an awesome job. I cannot wait to see the professional photos of the wedding since believe it or not I wasn’t able to figure out how my mom’s point and shoot works properly. (seriously her Nikon’s point and shoot is like a mini DSLR camera)

Danielle had put me and her aunt in charge of the set up. Making sure that the tables were set up right, the desert table was the way she wanted. I love it…such a thrill to get things in timely manner.

Danielle wrote a note to her new husband that she is always right without realizing that I wrote the same thing. Now I know why we are friends.

Danielle’s dad had the funniest speech prepared. I was laughing so hard that I had tiers running down my cheeks. DSCN0161 Congrats to my friend Danielle and her new husband Max!

While I was wondering if I should be putting my friend’s wedding on the blog, I realized that now a days blogging has became part of our daily lives: for some is a full time job with an income, for some is a way to share what they love wheatear that would be family, crafting, design, party planning, education, etc. Here are a few examples of how blogging has become a big part of our world today.

Saw this driving down the freeway. No worries, I had my husband take the photo. I didn’t want to cause any accidents.

My attempt at gardening

You can ask anyone from my family I do not have a green thumb. I try and try but I am not very good a keeping plants alive. I love gardens and beautiful flowers as much as I love the sea. I love seeing all the colors that a garden has, it is such an inspiration.

As I mentioned before my mom bought a house to be closer to me. As much as I was happy to have my family live  visit me all the time I saw their house as my project. Surprisingly for the house being a short sale, the interior of the house was great…no damages to the walls, good quality kitchen cabinets; the only problem was the yards- both the front and the back were not a great shape.

The house is located on a house track with an HOA that is very strict about the lawn. This is what the house looked like when my parents took possession of it. The bushes are overgrown, spilling out to the walkway, full of all kinds of spiders.

So we got to work…

IMG_0515 IMG_0520

It took us my husband a few days and two shovels later to finally take those bushes out. Think 10 year old bushes that were never pruned. Plus the builder didn’t do they job right so there were random spots of concrete in what is suppose to be the garden.

Here is after the bushes were gone. A very dirty 16 foot wall of dirt.  We I wasn’t sure what I really wanted to do with this so I left it like this for a few days. The HOA wasn’t very happy about that. So one lovely sunny afternoon while my husband was waiting for my car tire to get fixed I visited the local Home Depot and $150 later I had the flowers that I wanted.

We started planting…

The sprinklers came on while we were transferring and planting the flowers which meant a mandatory break.

IMG_1157 IMG_1160 IMG_1163

Since this was done the night before I left for Seattle I didn’t get a chance to take a close up of the garden.  I was planning on taking photos when I came back and wanted to give you the big reveal but unfortunately while I was in Seattle the neighborhood’ kids destroyed my little garden. They plucked most of the flowers out. Someone definitely needs to teach them some manners.

Here I am at square one again.

Where have I been!

I seem to be doing this a lot of this year – missing in action or in my case missing on the blog. I openly admit that I have not been the best blogger this year. I am trying to get back into it and get better, but as I had said before I value my time with my family a lot at this moment.

This time I didn’t mean intentionally to be missing for this long but things happen right ? The most exciting thing for me was my parents closing on a house 30 miles away from me. They are by no means moving to CA full time but that gives them the option to come and visit me anytime. Plus my mom can be more comfortable staying at her own house when coming to work (she is a successful real estate agent in WA and CA) rather than with me in my two bedroom townhouse.

The house was a short sale but for the most part was in great shape except the yard. The back yard was and still is in horrible condition. We are slowly working on it.

IMG_0988

To celebrate my 30th birthday and their new house my parents and brother came over two weekends ago. The weather was amazing and we had a lot of fun. Of course things never go as planned. Since this house is acting as their second home they didn’t have any furniture to furnish the house. They are starting from zero. The week leading to my dad and brother coming over was packed with furniture shopping that had to be exchanged due to defects and of course a last minute we had to buy a dishwasher.

IMG_1004 IMAG0973 IMAG0975

Since then we have been spending our time trying to figure out a plan on how to decorate a 3600sq feet house on a very small budget (which I am very excited about) and trying to get the yard pretty. My daughter is turning out to be quite the little boss as well.

IMG_1167

With that happening and trying to entertain an almost 3 year old plus run errands I find myself barely on the computer these days. I know that things will change in June where there will be a little bit more order in my life.

So long story short “Thank you” for being so understanding and continuing to visit my blog. I am off to Seattle for my best friend’s bachelorette party and her wedding. I will definitely share her wedding with you. (as long as I get her Okay first, of course)
