Chaises

Love them or hate them? I am yet to figure out if I love them or hate them. I know for sure that I am not a big fan of them. Some look comfortable and some don't. Although I don’t see the main reason for chaise loungers I do love to lounge on them outdoors while sunbathing.

The Barcelona Chair

Long time ago during one of my design classes we learned about the Barcelona Chair. The chair was designed by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and his partner Lilly Reich in 1929. The chair has a timeless design that would fit any contemporary, transitional, casual interior. The chair has its signature’s white or black leather but can be bought in array of different color leathers. I love this chair, sat in it and would love to have it.

The real thing will set you back at least $7000 but you can find a knock off for less than $1000 which is still not in my budget.  What do you think of the Barcelona chair?

 

Nailhead Furniture

This trend has been here for a long time and I think its here to stay. I think nailhead furniture are slick and sexy. The nailheads give any furniture a modern feel. Today we might use nailheads as decorative touch to the furniture but its believed that the decorative use of nailheads started back in the 17th Century in France . During that time furniture makers were using the nailheads to hold the fabric, leather to the wood frame.
