Fall Harvest Party

Modern Thanksgiving Harvest Party Ideas

Okay! I wanted to show you another party from Anders Ruff that I saw featured on Hostess with the Mostess: a warm fall harvest party. This party is a great modern alternative to the traditional Thanksgiving.

“Natural and handmade elements were our inspiration around the “Fall Harvest Design Collection”.  Our color scheme revolved around the harvest that we would display on our tables.  The colors were tones from artichokes, wheat, bosc pears, green apples, ivory pumpkins, acorns, and pine cones.  A backdrop of rusty orange added a bright contrast to these natural tones.”

Use the filled out I am thankful cards as part of your display.  We strung them along the dessert table with old fashioned clothespins and natural twineWrapping paper and patterned papers are an excellent and economical embellishment to use on table tops, buffets and box risers (for the dessert table).  We wanted to use antique irish linens to keep with tradition, but created a rustic feel by making a table runner with a textured craft wrapping paper.  The beverage table, favor table and dessert buffet also carried through the craft wrapping paper as a liner."

“Happy Gobble Day” Party

Thanksgiving Party Ideas for Kids - Thanksgiving Printables

Don’t you love when there is a kid version for something you love? For some reason everything is cutter when its made for kids. Take for example this colorful Thanksgiving inspired party that was designed by the talented Anders Ruff that I saw featured on Hostess with the Mostess few days ago.

I love the mixture of nature elements as well as natural textures, modern elements and bold colors in this party feature. The best part is that you can re-use everything for everyday decor or a different party. You can get the pintables at Anders Ruff’s shop.

“For the childrens’ place settings, we cut rectangles of burlap to mat our printable coloring placemat from the collection.  We also show bundled crayons with our turkey printable wrapper around it. These were also displayed on various wood slices.  (Adria’s husband cut up a fallen tree for us to use!).”

Thanksgiving: the kids table

Growing up every time we were invited over for a get together, a party, etc. we would sit at the same table with the adults during the meal time then we would excuse ourselves and go to whoever is hosting it kid’s room. There we would have snack food and drinks provided for us.

Now that my daughter is getting older I am wondering if she will have to sit at the kids table when have a family and/or friends gatherings. In a way I think its a great idea to have a kids table, their size cuter decorations. It seems that the kids get all the fun stuff in their table anyway.

Martha never disappoints with her creativity. Here is a silhouette table cloth made out of craft paper.

Get ready for the Mayflower and what goods it brings to this party. Even better you can make the kids head pieces yourself. The kids can choose if they want to be the Pilgrims or the Indians.

There is so much you can do with a little bit of craft paper.

Then I saw this cute table featured in the holiday issue of the Party Dress Magazine. This party was styled by Stefanie from Anna and Blue Paperie.

Thanksgiving table settings

Do you remember on Monday I was talking about going to a wedding over the weekend? Well, I guess staying out on the rain for hour and a half (the bride wanted to have an outdoor reception) has contributed to me getting sick. The ah, my throat hurts, my nose is really stuffy, coughing, and just want to sleep, kind of sick.

Moving on. Thanksgiving is a new holiday to me. Well, at least it was new fifteen years ago when I came to America. In Bulgaria we do not have a Thanksgiving so it felt a little funny celebrating this new holiday just like Halloween. We have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner only with my husband’s side of the family. My family changes things around because no one from my family is a big turkey, cranberry sauce, green beans eater. We usually make traditional Bulgarian food both for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

For me the holidays are all about the food, the decorations and mostly spending it with family. Table decor helps set up the mood and easily provide color to any natural place setting. The great part part about Thanksgiving/fall is that you can use so many elements from nature: use a branch to hang pumpkins from it or you can hang paper leaves. You can use pumpkins, acorns, squash, corn and of course flowers to decorate the table.

Of course we cannot forget the place cards. They do not have to something extravagant. They do not have cost an arm and a leg. They can be simple and can cost you as little as free. All you need is paper, printed and a little creativity. Of course there are tons of free printables online.
