Pinterest Your Friday

Hello. This week has gone way too fast for me. I am finally home after being gone for three weeks. Hopefully I will be home for quite some time before having to travel again. Well, I have learned to love Pinterest even more in the past few weeks. There is so much that I can find on that website that I didn’t know even existed and of course all of the inspiration that can be found on other people’s boards.

Wednesday Home Tour: Victorian Row House

Today we are going to take a tour of a very charming Victorian row house on Capital hill. The first time I was it I felt in love with the colors of the house. Just see for yourself.

Beautiful, isn’t it?

Free Calendar Round ups

I have had few very crappy days. It just seems that I can’t even get a brake. At least I am going home tomorrow after visiting my family for three weeks. I am ready to sleep in my own bed.

You might remember how last week I talked about organizing myself as well as learning more about time management, well I have been wasting spending lots of time reading about time management that made me realize that I waste lots of my time. I do have to say in my defense  that I find lots of informative information that I will have to find some time to go back and read in depth.

To make this sweet and short I decided to tackle this problem right away. I have been working on a “just for me” planner. I will discuss this next week, but it is nothing fancy I promise.  One of the main parts of the calendar is a yearly or monthly calendar. Here are few of the free calendar printable I found online that I thought looked good.

The TomKat Studio had this great simple modern calendar.

Thankfully Thrifty has this great pattern calendar

(this is what I am using for my planner)

Wednesday Home Tour: The set design of “The Holiday”

I know that the holidays are over but I love that I was able to see this movie this past week. “The Holiday”…I have seen this movie just a few times now. I really love how the characters are so different from one another. One is very career determent and doesn’t shed a tear for a man while the other is so insecure and let’s people walk over her especially a specific man. What I loved most about the movie was their homes: both very different yet I could imagine myself living in both. One very cozy located in a village in England and the other contemporary located in LA of course.

Even though Iris’s house doesn’t exist in real life I really love the exterior.

This is Amanda’s home.

Let’s move into the interiors.

This is Iris’s cozy, eclectic living room. Lots of patterns and color. The natural stone on the fireplace wall. I really like the wood beams on the ceiling.

Compared to Amanda’s very contemporary neutral living room. Solid colors the only pattern I see is on the rug.

Moving on to the kitchen

Amanda’s enormous kitchen with the state of the art appliances. Of course a formal dining room.

The bedrooms: I love the fireplace in Iris’s bedroom but I am not a big fan of the bed frame. I have to go with Amanda’s bed frame here. I really love the simplicity of her room.

Let’s end with the bathroom.

Iris’s bathroom is small

While Amanda’s is big. Isn’t it interesting how both have a soak tub and almost the same bath tub filler?

Have you seen the movie? Which house would you prefer to live if given the choice?

Happy Wednesday!

It is 2012!

Happy New Year!

Even a day late!

Hope you had a  wonderful  time during the holidays!

I was able to spend it with my family and reconnect with some old friends!

I had to work as well.

I took the week to reflect on my life .

I am still working on my 2012 resolutions or goals as I call them. .

I am currently trying to find a balance between family, friends, work, blogging, and some  other commitments. Last year when I started this blog I knew that I shouldn’t expect any results if I do not put any work into it. I knew that everything needs dedication. What I didn’t know was the enormous time I would spend  blogging that at times would make it feel like a chore. I was filling guilty as well because I was taking so much time  away from my family. Then when I left my blog unattended I felt horrible. I was torn.

What I realized as well was that I was really bad at time management. I was traveling so much that when I got home I was playing catch up right up as I was about to leave again. It was a never changing process.  I started to fill overwhelmed. In the end I had the mentality  of “all or nothing” .

I am trying my best to change this. I will be taking baby steps to get things done and not feel overwhelmed.  Maybe not schedule full both my mornings and afternoons with activities for my little toddler, running errands, etc.

I think most of all would be organization. I need to organize both my home and myself. After all it’s January! It’s a New Year! A new start!

Everyday instead of “ I will do this” , I will use “ I will try” that way I do not feel so guilty if I do not get something done that day. That way it doesn’t feel like a chore but a choice.

Here are few quotes that sum up how I feel today. My inspiration:

I am off to learn few things about time management and organization as well as learning how to believe in myself and stop comparing myself to others.

I will try to post about the new things I have found, maybe they will help someone else in the process.
