My husband turned 30 two weeks ago. You might remember this post back in February when I discussed different ideas for his birthday party. Well, after realizing that we would not be able to make it to Seattle that we should have a birthday party here. We settled for beer and cupcakes for the theme. Guests were asked to bring a 6 pack of unique beer or as my husband called it “beer from around the world”.
The birthday party was set for St. Patrick’s day which prompted us to chose the green as the main color of the event. We created a very simple dessert table with two cakes: red velvet and peanut butter torte; Oreo truffles; two different cupcakes: lemon and Guinness and not to forget pretzels are a great companion to beer.
We had originally intended for the party to be outdoors but someone had other plans. It poured rain and hailed on the day of the birthday party so most of our intended decorations stayed tucked away for another day. One of the main decoration was balloons spread out everywhere in the house for the kids to play with. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture. To be quite honest I didn’t get the chance to take a lot of photos since I spent most of the time in my car with a broken window while my daughter was sleeping on the back seat.
Budget was playing a very important role in this event. The best part was that I owned most of the items that you see on the table that I had purchased from over the years. I would say that it cost us less than $50 for decorations and desserts. If you are interested in how much each thing cost please e-mail me for details. All of the decorations are handmade by me and I found the printables from the Internet. They were free for personal use…I just added the wording. I keep a board lots of free printables here.
All this and next week I will provide you with tutorials and recipes from the party. So stay tuned!
